APPROVAL OF DRAFT MINUTES:

The Draft Minutes of the Meeting held on 24 November 2008 were approved by Peter Campion and second by Gillian Lynch.

MATTERS ARISING FROM MINUTES:

Later in the meeting Les Smith commented that we had put Kent Gun Club would hold the Helice Championships where it should be Invicta which was correct on our calendar of championships – GKD noted this.

TREASURERS REPORT:

GDL confirmed informed the members that a spreadsheet of the year’s accounts was attached to their Agenda and as at 31 December 2008 there was a balance of £2588.31.

She confirmed that all monies had been paid for badges, hire of room for AGM and the only outstanding payments were for the food for the AGM and the additional trophies recently purchased leaving a balance as at the £1,828.31

No other major debits were required in the immediate future.

However she did comment that we had sufficient funds to help with entries for the Juniors and Colts but not one person had contacted them to assist them with funds, which was a great disappointment for the committee, as two years ago at the AGM the committee had received a complaint that we were not doing enough for the juniors & colts.   We have set up a different scheme for 2009 where if juniors or colts approach the committee with a request to assist in their shooting, be it lessons, fees, entries etc the committee will consider this – forms can be found on the website.

Jamie Brightman wished again to sponsor a colt or junior at a British Open but that the Kent CPSA must sponsor a second colt/junior.   It was generally thought amongst the current committee that this should not be a problem, and would be put on the Agenda for the next meeting.   The committee thanked Jamie in his absence.

COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS

The calendar had been placed on everyone’s chair and no comments were made.   GDL did mention that the date for the Helice may change as this was a date suggested by Chris Potter at the Helice Committee meeting the other week, but had not been confirmed by the ground.   No other comments were made.

IH made a formal apology to Kingsferry and Alan May for the mix up of the championship application forms – and noted that everything had now been sorted out.

FUND RAISING:
£1200 was raised at the Hop Farm dinner and dance which was a great success. IH said a thank you to all our sponsors for the event and thanked everyone for their support.

TROPHY PRESENTATION

Johnny Johnston kindly presented the trophies on behalf of the Committee the Country Trophies – full list and details are on our website – together with pictures. N It was noted

Buffet was served

IH had been brought to the attention by David Billinsby that we had not mentioned Ken Newman’s achievements in the European championships and then being registered blind the day after.    IH apologised that we had not been informed of this and informed the AGM of his achievements.

IH then run through the achievements of some of the counties shooters, especially the colts and then Johnny Johnston kindly presented the Shooters of the Year awards as follows:

SOUTH EAST REGIONAL COMMITTEE MEMBERS

Unfortunately there was an oversight as to who would be the Kent’s South East Regional Committee Members and this will now be decided at the next Kent Committee meeting

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

GDL mentioned about the website and that even though she had resigned she will update the website and will be transferring this over to the HQ template which we will have full control and input over but it will be easier for a non-web designer to use and update – this may take some time and in the meantime she will continue to keep the kentcpsa.co.uk site up and running.   She did state that the committee cannot put anything on the site ie reports, scores, unsung hero’s etc without the input from the shooters.

Chris Strange then asked would we like a monthly Skeet newsletter. GDL said that would be great we can have a skeet page on the site and Chris agreed to send this to us on a monthly basis.

AN asked if those that attended the Hop Farm event thought it was a success and there was a very positive response back from the floor.

Henry Arnold then asked whether there will still be sponsorship of the website on the new site and GDL said yes.   He then gave the committee £100 for this years sponsorship and Colin Hales also agreed to do the same.

Meeting was concluded and a thank to all attendees by Alf Newman

DATE & VENUE OF NEXT MEETING:

This was proposed for Wednesday 25 February at 8pm Ramada Hotel, Maidstone, but AN will contact the committee if there was to be any change.
