2nd Kent Skeet Team Selection @ Kingsferry 25/3/12
Another great Kent skeet team Selection shoot held at Kingsferry Gun Club with once again a great atmosphere to who will make the team this year. It was a very chilly day only 7 degrees with a light wind and overcast but that never stop some very good scores coming at all.
Once again on the very first squads out P. Jolly posted a 100x100 that should have told us what we was in for then along comes Dave. McConnachie finding some form at last with a good 98
In the Lady’s S.Quinn posted a steady 95 then on the last Squad of the day some fantastic shooting with Darren. Wood posting a 100x100 follow by Mark. Chesson also on 100x100 and then Johnny Walker missing low 2 single for a 99 so some good skeet shooting all round. Once again we had no junior but we do have a new colt by the name of J.J. Goodhew who posted a 73 and this was his first skeet competition so looks very promising. Once again very well run by Kingsferry the full scores were.

Kent Universal Trench Championships Report
This years county championships were held at the National Clay Shooting Centre on 1st April. The weather was just perfect for a great days shooting but because the conditions were so good this made for an interesting day.
The scores were very low probably due to the targets looking so visible, thus catching a lot of shooters out. 6 counties took part and Kent produced a disappointing 4 members only. There were no Lady or junior shooters but the veteran title went to H Batt, just one target behind Mike Wensley who took the title with 87 ex 100.
Thanks must go to all the staff at the shooting Centre for a great day.
Hi to all Kentish members!
Last weekend, 7/8 of April was a selection shoot at Bisley for the English Olympic Trap team which our very own Gordon Lee entered and won the veterans class in difficult light conditions with a 171/200, 11th overall out of approx 75 entries.
What he hadn’t realised until he was called for a shoot off was this was also the English OT Championship, which meant he also took the veterans Gold medal and is now the English Veteran OT Champion!!!
Well done Gordon! You may have reached the age where you are forgetting what you are shooting for, but look on the bright side, at least you haven!t forgotten how to shoot!!!!!!

Results write up for Single Barrel Championship held at Kent Gun Club on Sunday 22/04/2012
We had the largest entry ever for the Kent Single Barrel Championship held at Kent Gun Club on Sunday 22/04/12 with 35 shooters making up Seven squads! Our thanks to all of you for attending this event and making it such a great day, netting £70 for our Kent County funds.
Kevin Howling took the championship with a brilliant 95, Gordon Lee took the Veterans trophy with an 88, Rose Baker won the Ladies with a 55 and JM Dunstane the Colts with a 53.
Our thanks to both Gordon Lee and Dave Amoss for organising the event and to Kent Gun Club for running it on our behalf.
It is interesting to note that the champion, ladies champion and colt do not usually shoot the trap disciplines, so even if you don’t usually shoot the discipline for a particular championship, it is well worth “having a go!” you never know, it could be your day to receive a highly prestigious Kent Champion badge.
The next two to have a go at are both on the 13/05/2012; the ABT Kent Championship at the National Clay Target Centre, Bisley and the All Rounder at Southdown.
Once again, thanks for all the support the members are giving the county this year. Tim the Chairman.

Kent,Sussex & Berkshire A.B.T. Championships-NCSC 13th May
Out of a total entry of 35 Kent attracted 6 entries, Sussex 9 and Berks. 5. Kevin Howland proved once again what a good all round shot he is by winning the Kent Championship with a great score of 91, which also placed him equal 3rd overall. Unfortunately an uncharacteristic 20 in his third round probably cost Kevin the High Gun place.
Gordon Lee’s score of 90 was good enough to make him Kent Veteran Champion and to place him 5th overall.
Unfortunately there were no Colt, Junior or Ladies entries.
Thanks to NCSC for holding this shoot for us and to those Kent shooters that made the trip round the M25 to attend.
Roger Hoad
