KENT SKEET SCENE - APRIL ISSUE

Two Skeet shooters were shooting off for the British Open Championship and had already shot two rounds straight.  They duly went to the next station and were about to start shooting when the first guy unloads his gun,  takes off his hat and bows his head.  The second guy sees this and looks up to see a hearse go by and is so touched by this wonderful gesture he says "That was a marvellous gesture and has moved me so much I've decided to hand you the shoot-off".
The first shooter thanks him and replies "It was the least I could do old man - She was a damn good wife to me !"

Well it's been a busy month for skeet shooters with some excellent scores ans a few surprises !!!!!!!!!!!

First selection shoot for the Kent Team.   Alan Ribbens shows the way with a brilliant 100 followed the irrepressible Johnny Walker with the same score.  Dave Andes and Richard Moate put in a first class 98 with Chris Strange,  Mark Chesson and Geoff Evans barely holding on.

The day started OK but gradually the wind got stronger and was pretty much at gale force by 14:00.  Alan Ribbens had shot early and put in a solid 97 but that man Walker went out in gail force winds, hail and rain and shot 98 - Superb shooting Johnny !
Dave Andes and Richard Moate couldn't seem to handle the conditions and shot 93 and 94 respectively.

The half way stage was looking VERY interesting.

Seniors :      Johnny Walker              100+98 = 198/200
                    Alan Ribbens                 100+97 = 197/200
                    Richard Moate                98+94 = 192/200
                    Dave Andes                    98+93 = 191/200
                    Chris Strange                  95+95 = 190/200
                    Mark Chesson                 95+95 = 190/200
Ladies :       Michelle Chesson
Juniors :      Tom Corbin

The birds were on rails,  not a breath of wind and not a 100 straight in sight.
Mickey Dore and Darren Wood came close with 99s.  Darren missed the first selection shoot so had to count all three of his scores - no pressure Darren !
Johnny Walker shot 97 as did Alan Ribbens which pretty much sews up the first two places with the rest still to shoot for.   Michelle Chesson shot a superb 97 which is a personal best and nice to know She can handle the pressure.

All eyes were on Darren Wood to see if he could do as some of us are predicting and shoot his way into the Kent team with a 'ton'.   The 100 wasn't to be but he shot a 99 and that was plenty to secure the third team place.   Mark Chesson's fourth score was a 96 (286/300) which will probably be 'too little too late' and a similar situation for Chris Strange also 96 (286/300).
Out of the blue Geoff Evans shoots a most solid 100 straight (290/300) to clinch the 4th team place.
The nerves must have been a bit raw as Dave Andes put in a 94 (288/300) and it looked like Richard Moate who was 49x50 for his first two rounds would take the 5th team place but nerves got the better of him and he dropped 5 on the next 50 for a total of 288.  The same as Dave Andes !
                                                 SHOOT OFF

Richard dropped his first bird at station 2 but when Dave dropped the pair on 4 Richard went from 1 down to 1 up in one stand !    It stayed like that to the end with Richard taking the 5th team place.
Chris Strange's 96 (286/300) was just a bit much for Dave Record (281/300) and so Chris takes the Veteran's place.
