Kent County Website : YOUNG SHOOTERS
WATCHING OUR COLTS AND JUNIORS
14/10/2009 - NATHAN HALES DOES HIS COUNTY PROUD AT THE S.E. REGION FITASC.
Nathan Hales represented Kent at the South East Region Inter-Counties FITASC Sporting
event at Southdown and won the COLT Championship with a very impressive score of
75/100.
07/10/2009 - LEWIS BALLANTYNE WINS THE KENT COLT ALL ROUNDER CHAMPIONSHIP
Lewis's scores were up there with many of the senior shooters.
ABT 16/25
Single Barell 21/25
Skeet 22/25
English Sporting 17/25
This gives an overall score of 76/100 which was equal 8th overall and also wins 'C' class.
07/09/2009 - TWO YOUNG SHOTS DO A FINE JOB REPRESENTING KENT AT D.T.L.
James Attwood (Junior) and Lewis Ballantyne (Colt) put in scores of 98/289 and 94/275 respectively.
The senior team would like to pass on their thanks to James and Lewis for their support
in the Down The Line Intercounties event at Bisley 30th August.
31/07/2009 - TOM CORBIN SHOWS HIS SUPERIORITY IN THE KENT ALL-ROUNDER
Tom shot 89/100 in the ALL-ROUNDER at Dartford (26/7) and second overall with only Kevin Howland posting a better score (97/100). Tom wins Cot ALL-ROUNDER Champion. It seems even more impressive if you look at the full score board on the main CPSA web site :-
http://www.cpsa.co.uk/scores/fixtures/37/44919
Being a multi-discipline event I beleive that the ALL-ROUNDER improves with maturity so for Tom to be shooting it so well as a Colt is a great achievement. Keep up the good work Tom.
Oh - and Dad's very proud of you !
27/07/2009 - OLLIE WELLARD ADDS KENT ENGLISH SKEET NON-TOXIC JUNIOR CHAMPION
to his list of achievements. It was a windy day on the Island so a score of 93/100 at Kingsferry is excellent and only 5 away from the scores posted by the Lady and Veteran Champions.
Ollie pictured with his English Skeet Non-Toxic badge and trophy and sporting a new haircut.
02/07/2009 - OLLIE WELLARD wins KENT JUNIOR SKEET DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIP (Kingsferry 27th June). Ollie started going shooting with his Dad (Andy) to Greenfields SG from the age of ten where he won several young gun days. He's now branched out to other clubs mainly Kingsferry GC and Bisley where he has taken part in several British and English Open Skeet Competitions. As we've already learnt from the exploits of other young Kent shooters NEVER make a bet with them. Ollie won £50 from his Dad at Kingsferry when he bet he couldn't straight the last two Skeet layouts after dropping 3 targets on the first two layouts. Ollie is about to finish at Sparsholt Agricultural College where he's studying Game Keeping and Management. His preffered gun is a Beratta 682 Gold E but also shoots well with his Benelli M2. The next goal is to straight the Skeet in competition and if possible be more serious with Sport Shooting.

22/06/2009 - TOM CORBIN wins the KENT JUNIOR SPORTRAP CHAMPIONSHIP for the third year running (Southdown 14/6). Tom scored an impressive 71/100. The Sportrap was on the same day as the English Sporting (also at Southdown) and we've heard comments from some Seniors that it was difficult to switch it on for two separate events - so well done Tom.
22/06/2009 - LEWIS BALLANTYNE is the 2009 Kent English Sporting Colt Champion - Southdown 14th June.
"It was a really hot day and the Sun was shining making it difficult to see some
of the targets".
We all know how difficult the targets are at Southdown and mixed with the importance of the event it was an impressive score of 78/100.
Lewis has a very mature attitude in the way he goes about his clay shooting and you have to remind yourself that he's still a Colt. He's been working very hard these past 12 months to improve his English Sporting with lessons followed up with lots of competition and clearly it's paying off. Lewis is coached by Paul Hollamby with some sponsorship from the Peter Adams Trust.
Lewis went on to shoot the Sportrap in the afternoon and managed a 58/100.
"It was rather testing with some long birds"
You can't fail to be impressed by this young man and I'm sure there's plenty more championships for him in the future.

07/06/2009 - TOM CORBIN has won Kent Junior ABT Champion at Dartford with an impresive score of 80/100 despite having never shot it before. A special mention should go to LEWIS BALLENTYNE who also shot the ABT with a score of 71/100. Unfortunately we don't have a COLT trophy for this event.
04/06/2009 - TOM CORBIN shot a 98/100 at the South East Region Inter-counties English Skeet Championship making him S.E. region Colt Champion. It was a lovely bright day at Dartford gun club with gusty winds coming off the river, which made for some interesting targets. Congratulations Tom.
24/04/2009 - FRANKIE CLARK shot an 86/100 and won through to become Kent Colt English Skeet Champion. His Grandad introduced him to shooting when he was only 6 years old and has just bought him a 12 bore - a Lamber Sportex 28" o/u multi-choke. Frankie's preferred cartridge is the Lylevale Express 24 gram. Starting with a single barrel .410 Cooey popping at a few clays on the practice stand, Frankie soon progressed to a Yildiz 20 bore shooting Skeet and Sporting.
"His average on Skeet is 21/25 and hopefully this will improve with his new gun
which fits him better. The Colt title he's just won has given him a confidence
boost and he's told me he'll work to improve all his shooting skills and scores"
His gradparents are taking Frankie to Bidwell's ground this weekend to experience a different shoot. Keep up the good work Frankie.
Frankie Clark Frankie seen in good company !
Colt ESK Champ
24/04/2009 - TOM CORBIN has won Kent Junior English Skeet Championship with a score of 95/100 just 2 away from the high gun score.
Tom shooting station 6 at Dartford Gun Club
01/04/2009 - TOM CORBIN has secured his place in the KENT TEAM at ENGLISH SKEET.
Tom hasn't shot skeet since the British Open last year and the lay off has taken its toll. From a 100 straight which we reported last year to an 87 on the first selection shoot at Dartford. 91 in the second selection shoot and 93 in the third. On to the final selection shoot at Kingsferry and Tom is back on form and looking like his old self. The first 2 layouts were straighted. A minor lapse of concentration in the third layout and he dropped HIGH 6 !
The miss seemed to rattle Tom for a while but still managed a respectable 96.
Job done - he's in the Kent Team.
24/02/2009 - JAMIE LEADSHAM - 19 years old - CPSA Class AA.
Jamie has been shooting for two years and is already just short of being in AAA class for ESP. Recently passed his driving test and works for his Dad making custom built horse boxes and horse transporter lorries.
To say that Jamie is dedicated to his shooting is an understatement. He regularly drives 600 miles in a weekend to go to shoots such as Greenfields, Dartford, A1, Southdown, Horne. Lakenheath, Hepworth Hall and Detling.
Coached for the past 16 months by Paul Hollamby - here are some of his comments.
"Like most young men of the age of 17 starting out in the world of shooting, he wanted to succeed instantly and expected to hit all targets. Once he realised this was not going to happen he decided to have regular lessons from me and asked if I could find a natural style of shooting that would suit him. Over the months and many thousands of cartridges later Jamie's confidence and ability has grown dramatically. He's at the stage now where he is one of the best Junior shooters in Kent and is rated 7 out of 10 in the U.K. He's also big enough to know he needs the occasional kick up the backside from his coach when he takes targets for granted".
Jamie is a larger than life character and to some can appear intimidating when they first meet him but it doesn't take long to realise that he's just a "big softie". He does not have any sponsorship at present which we suspect is down to him not shooting the Olympic and trap disciplines. This may happen when he gets older but at present he likes the challenge of Sporting and FITASC. If there's any one out there reading this that would like to sponsor Jamie in any way then please contact his coach paulhollamby@aol.com
03/01/2009 - NATHAN HALES shot a very good 52/100 at the English Open at West Midlands Ground.
13/12/2008 - TOM CORBIN shot his first 100 straight Skeet at the Bristish Open on 10th August - winning B Class. He also shot a 96 at the Intercounties Skeet on 1st June at Dartford achieving 2nd overall.
They shot his new cap !
20/10/2008 - NATHAN SKINNER from Ashford - Various wins at Northdown and Detling with support from KWG Ashford and RC Cartridges. Grand Masters Side by Side Junior Champion 2008.
20/10/2008 - LEWIS BALLANTYNE started off at Detling Gun Club in the juniors class which he won several times. He was 'persuaded' to enter the adults classes and won novice the first time of shooting it. He is now 'on the board' in 'C' class and has achieved a 3rd and a 2nd. In the recent 100 birder he shot an 84 and came 2nd. On 12th December he shot in the S.M.S.A Masonic shoot and won the whole competition with a 91/100. Came 6th in the class at the Kent All Rounder. Qualified for the Mitsubishi World series final. Regularly shows the adults how to shoot the pool at Detling and came 2nd with an 8/10 where the winner shot 9/10. He is currently being sponsored by Robert E Lee plastering but looking for more sponsors.

Definitley one to watch for the future.
26/07/2009 - JAMES ATTWOOD (Junior) and LEWIS BALLANTYNE (Colt) support the Kent senior team to victory in the INTER-COUNTIES DOUBLE TRAP at Bisley 19th July. James secured the Junior Championship with an impressive 116/150. Full results and more photos of the Kent side in the main NEWS section.
