LINCOLNSHIRE FITASC CHAMPIONSHIP

HELD AT ORSTON SHOOTING GROUND

ON 7TH/8TH JULY

A total of 25 Lincolnshire shooters (out of 79 entrants) braved the changeable weather conditions to take part in this year’s Lincolnshire FITASC Championship, which was an event held in conjunction with Nottinghamshire CPSA and hosted by Orston Shooting Ground across two days on Friday/Saturday 7th/8th July .

Participants were treated to an array of challenging target presentations, as you might expect from a FITASC event and the course setter had us all scratching our heads at times. It was a well organised event, which ran smoothly throughout.

After a closely fought competition it was John Lee (with a brilliant score of 89) taking home the silverware, by one target from Paul Wilkinson’s 88.  Paul was the Lincolnshire A Class winner, Gary Taylor took B Class with a score of 82.  Dave Frisby was the C Class winner with a score of 70 and James Peatfield was first in D Class with a very creditable score of 78 in what we believe was his first FITASC competition.

The top scoring Veteran was Steve Wilkinson with a score of 71, Junior winner was James Peatfield (78) and the Lady category was won by Dr Georgina Barrett with a score of 58 in what was also, her first FITASC competition.

As John was not in attendance at the end of the competition, arrangements will be made to present him with the trophy and personal momentoes at the earliest opportunity.

Well done to all those that took part.  The scores will be used to formulate the Lincolnshire FITASC team for the East Midlands inter-counties competition scheduled for Saturday/Sunday 12th & 13th August at Sporting Targets.

We must also extend our grateful thanks to all of the staff and referees at Orston Shooting Ground for putting on a fabulous competition, which ran like clockwork from start to finish.
