EM I/C ABT

EAST MIDLANDS INTERCOUNTIES ABT

HELD AT NOTTINGHAM & DISTRICT GUN CLUB

ON SUNDAY 1ST OCTOBER

We had more changes to our ABT team this year than a Tory cabinet re-shuffle with some of our key players unable to make it at the last minute but we gave it a good try and along the way there were some very respectable scores.

Our 3 man veteran team over night became a one man team so team manager, Gary Boardman, hastily jumped categories and joined Marvin Houghton in the Vets.  Not a bad move as both complemented each other very well with Gary scoring 88 and Marvin 87.  Sadly not a winning score but 3rd place against some very strong teams was no disgrace.

John Toombs found himself drafted into the senior team in place of Gary and thankfully Andy Jackson turned up to shoot as an individual but was then a very welcome addition to the team.  His final score of 91 certainly gave us a boost but at this, the last team shoot of the season and the final decider for the East Midlands Directors Trophy, it was always going to be tough to make any impression on the Norfolk and Suffolk teams who fielded some very bigger hitters in their quest to lift that trophy.

The ladies team of Janet Stennett and Lizzie MacGreggor White put in a valiant effort but had to settle for runners-up against Notts but our junior team did us proud.

George Dilley and Jayden Wilson are recent converts to trap discliplines and not even ABT at that.  They were both "persuaded" to enter as the Lincolnshire junior team at the National Intercounties ABT and they have followed up that success with another win at the East Midlands event
