JOHN WINN - LINCOLNSHIRE OLYMPIC TRAP CHAMPION 2023

John Winn claimed his third podium place in as many weeks as he took top honours at the Lincolnshire Olympic Trap championship.  The recent improvement in the weather, and more to the point the temperatures, made conditions almost ideal for the occasion but in spite of this there were some surprisingly low scores.  The targets were well presented but there were some vicious left and right handers which were difficult to get to grips with for many.  Certainly after a first round score of 24, John was not happy with his score of 82 but on the day it was the score to beat and no-one else came close with very few Lincolnshire shooters managing to even achieve a 20 in their round by round scores.

Entries were a little disappointing, not helped by a clash of fixtures with ABT at Rugby and Nottingham but nevertheless it was an enjoyable and well run event for which we must thank the team at EYCSG.

May I remind those who win trophies to ensure that they are returned for the event the following year.  No matter how many accolades a shooter wins, winning a county championship is a matter of personal pride for the winners and to not have the trophy to present at the end is disappointing to say the least.  If you have difficulty in returning a trophy you must advise a member of the committee well before the event so that the necessary arrangements can be made for its return.
