The South East Region English Skeet Situation
Statement from the Chairman Johnny Johnson
Competitive clay target shooters join their Association to take part in Registered competitions.
The member knows the rules pertaining to such events, he or she pays a subscription, and he or she accepts those Rules and has come to an agreement or a form of contract.
Registered shooting ranges are grounds that asked to be so called, were inspected and accepted as such. Then they reach an agreement with the Association, be it at National, Regional or County level to put on a competition for those members so another contract has been made.
Then a member of the Association is banned from attending that event by someone in authority at that ground and therefore cannot take part.
The reasons for the banning have nothing to do with his standing in the Association so the agreement with the range has been broken and the competition is moved, because that member wishes to take part in it.
This is not a new situation this convention has always existed.
Many comments have been made about the current position re the Regions two Skeet events.
Most of these have not been read by me because of a raging chest infection but I have been informed by old fashioned telephone and they will be read and studied I assure members.
I too want a solution.
I want to shoot clays and enjoy myself.
I look forward to seeing members at the County and Regional Annual General Meetings and listening to their opinions and ideas.
Cheers JJ
