ST.MICHAEL’S HOSPICE CHARITY SHOOT

(report from Tony Mobley)

On Saturday 11th May very windy conditions greeted the competitors at the annual St Michael's Hospice Charity Shoot held at Checkley Clay's home ground near Mordiford, Herefordshire.  Top prize in the 40 bird Individual Sporting was shared between Alistair Evans, Lee Betts and Matt Pugh who all scored 37.  Second was Roy Gudrat on 35 followed by Ashley Keylock and Ian Palmer on 33.  The DTL winners were Chris Moule, Roy Gudrat and Phil Pritchard who shared top prize.  A very busy Pool Stand produced just two maximums from Alistair Evans and Lee Betts who also won the Gamekeeper Cup.  The high wind made the High Pheasant stand particularly difficult with Chris Moule producing the only 10 ex 10 of the day.  He was chased by 35 others with 9!  The weather on Sunday was a little better with the main event, the DTL being won by Chris Moule and Roy Gudrat who shared the £100 prize.  The same pair won the Pool Stand that day and added another £20 each to their winnings.  The Three Man Flush was quite challenging but was convincingly won by Chris Moule, Ashley Keylock and Ian Palmer on 45 ex 50 followed by Eden Tanner, Anthony Blandford and Tony Mobley on 39 and Alan Main, Lee Dawson and Des Jones on 38.  An amount of £2,500 was raised on the day with a total amount of £40,000 being raised as a result of this popular event.  The organisers wish to thank all the sponsors for their generous support and the guns who turned out to make this such a successful event.
