Norfolk Supreme Champions 2017

This years Norfolk Supreme Champion is Russell Houghton with a combined points total of 43.5 points. Russell managed to win the supreme championship title by a clear 12.5 points over Jason Matthewson who finished on 31 points and Nial Crumpler on 30.5 points. Russell gained his points totals from winning the Norfolk Double Rise and Down The Line championships followed by a joint 2nd place in the Norfolk Single Barrel and a 3rd place finish in the Norfolk ABT. Russell also managed to gain a valuable 7.5 points from the Norfolk All Round as well.

Russell found himself in a good position back in June and never thought it possible to achieve this grand status of becoming the Norfolk supreme champion with the like of Richard Bunning and Duane Morley in the county who are great all round shots who can turn their hand to any discipline. Russell has had one of his best years in shooting as he also managed to win the East Midlands Double Rise Championship earlier in the year which included a 50/50 straight on his final layout.

This has been a good year for trap shooters with the Veterans Supreme Title going to Mike Eales for the first time. Mike is a dedicated shooter who has shot for many years and is a regular in the Norfolk ABT and DTL teams every year. Mike managed to win the Norfolk Veterans Double Rise championship and gained valuable points from the Norfolk Down The Line, Single Barrel and ABT championships.

The Ladies Supreme Championship was a tie between Audrey Smith and newcomer Laura Shinn. Unfortunately for Laura, Audrey won this years Supreme Championship title with 2 championship wins to Laura's 1. Audrey managed to win the Norfolk Ladies Double Rise and Down The Line with a 3rd in the Norfolk ABT.

We didn't have any Juniors who qualified for this years Norfolk Junior Supreme Championship with the qualification being a minimum of 3 shoots.
