June Pull! Report - 2018

Hi to all the Norfolk shooters out there. I am starting this month’s section with a request for your reports to be included into this section of Pull! and to respond to criticism I have received about this section being about one shooter. I can only submit what I receive, so please do find the time to send me reports of your shooting so I can include them. The season has swung into action for some of the Norfolk shooters. Elise Dixon has been travelling far and wide in the last month with a trip over to Portugal for the Olympic Trap Grand Prix, weather almost as bad the UK with wind and rain, although thankfully no snow! Elise shot a 94/125 at her second international competition. A fantastic result which will no doubt give her the confidence going onto the selection shoot season. If Portugal wasn’t enough Elise has braved the Arctic weather at Nuthampstead for the first OT selection shoot of the year. This was not a game of who could score highest as much as who could see the clay and then hope to hit it. Elise however did dig deep and stay the distance of all five rounds while many, one might say sensible shooters decided -10°C temperatures was not for them! Next was the Olympic Trap Mixed Pairs Event and Elise was joined by fellow junior shooter Ben Killian. First time at Fauxdegla for both shooters, and the scenery was beautiful (at least for the parent spectators). Elise and Ben set to work both putting in some good scores whilst they did not make the final it was great to watch and both are looking forward to the next event. One might think that’s enough for one young lady but she was back on the road for the Kent County UT Championships, first time at Dartford Clay Target Shooting Ground, a very different view from the layout with a ship slowly passing by down the Thames but Elise stayed focused and put in a respectable 78/100 ahead of the main event the GB Universal Trench Selection Shoot at Beverley Clay Target Centre. The weather could not have been better with bright sunshine and a light breeze. 105 shooters ready and waiting, Elise showed amazing focus and ended day one with a PB 84/100. Going into day two with a plan to hit all rounds in the 20’s was a tough target and first round got her off to a great start with a 21. In rounds two and three Elise dropped a couple of targets early on making it tough to keep the clays breaking but finally putting two rounds of 20. Last round was a bit of a wait as the layouts got backed up with squads. With Elise finally taking to the peg for her last round, Elise missed the first target, followed by the 5th and 6th. Light began to fade as the sun tucked itself away behind the clouds Elise dug deep for the remaining targets of the 200 targets and ended with an 18 finishing the weekend with a new PB 163/200. Amazing month for Elise Dixon well done!
