July Pull! Report - 2018

I start this months Norfolk section with another request for your competition results and stories as I can only submit what I receive so please send your reports to me. Thanks, Keith. The season is now in full swing with the GBR and England Selection Shoots for all disciplines fully under way and Elise Dixon has been travelling around the country in a bid to make the dream a reality and shoot for her country. Up first was the Olympic Trap England Selection Shoot and British Grand Prix at the Fauxdegla ground in Wales. Anyone who has made the trip across Norfolk to Wales knows that it’s a long trip. But this was only the first of two trips to Wales in the same month and the weather could not have been more fantastic for Wales and a bank holiday. With nearly 100 shooters entering the event and several junior ladies it was an exciting two days of personal bests and a close run to the bitter end. Elise was focused and put in an amazing first day with 18,18, 20, 22, achieving a personal best of 78. Slightly disappointed that she had not made the 80 mark, Elise set herself the goal of going for another PB on day two and wow did she surpass all expectation, putting in three rounds of 22. Consistency was the aim of the game however and after 275 targets and hot weather it was a gallant effort in the last round, getting 18 and finishing the weekend on 162 securing her the British Grand Prix Junior Ladies Bronze. It was a short week after Wales with the bank holiday Monday spent cleaning the gun and repacking her shooting kit, three days of school and then practice on the Friday with her coach Aaron Heading in preparation for the GBR Selection Shoot for Universal Trench at Nuthampstead. Elise had one focus, to keep the consistency going and better her score at the Beverley Shoot only a few weeks before. The weather was not as good as the previous week and with a chill in the air the jumpers were back out. Elise set to work making short work of the first four rounds on day one, with an amazing 21, 21, 22, 22 and going into day two with a starting score of 87. All the ladies were close with only a few targets between them so there was all to shoot for on the Sunday and although the rain made an appearance it didn’t faze the shooters. Elise started strong with a 20 but the remaining three rounds did not go quite to plan, with an 18, 21, 18 but this was good enough to improve her previous score and finish with 164ex200. It was back to Wales the following week for the British Shooting Shotgun Series Round two at Fauxdegla. Remarkably the sun was shining and with seven Junior Ladies it was set for an exciting competition. After two rounds Elise was tied in joint 3rd with Augusta CamposMartyn. The third round proved tricky and saw Elise drop to 4th two targets behind 3rd place with only one target ahead of 5th. Going into day two with only 50 targets remaining it was a battle of determination and focus and Elise put in a strong first round of 22. It was all to play for in the last round and Elise ended the weekend on 96ex125 with the bronze medal for Junior Ladies. A new PB and only nine targets short of the MCS for team GBR. With more competitions to come Elise has a very exciting season ahead.
