August Pull! Report - 2018
I start this month’s report with an apology to the Priory CTC for the clash of dates for the Olympic skeet championship resulting in a wasted day for Aaron and Natasha who had set up the layouts for us, Aaron missing out on the Nuthampsted OT Grand Prix, as a committee we must avoid date clashes and I do not know how we missed this one we must ensure this does not happen again. Thank you to Audrey Smith for the East Midlands single barrel championship held at Priory CTC report. Nile Chrumpler shot a 99 to win it shot on the first squad of the day, lots of good shots tried to catch him G Howlett and A Snell came close with 98’s, Norfolk shooters S Owen 97 and J Mathason 96. Well done to Norfolk shooters A Smith Ladies runner up, Will Gilbert junior runner up R Gilbert vets runner up and third placed R Flowers who came out of retirement. Priory had four layouts of good targets and the shoot could have been supported more by other East Midlands regions, if we don’t support them we will lose them! Congratulations to Richard Bunning winning English Open Sporting, Simon Owen shot well at Kriegoff, D Gooding putting in good scores, Junior Will Gilbert 96 ABT at Rugby, Richard Bunning winning the Cheddite championship with 117/120. As a junior balancing the requirements of school with any sport has challenges that builds strength, resilience and character and Elise Dixon has been working hard to develop her form and put in consistent performances in Olympic Trap. Elise, sponsored by Beverley Clay Target Centre travelled to the Yorkshire ground for the second Olympic Trap England Selection / England Championship. With 91 shooters and fantastic weather it was set to be an exciting weekend. It was great to see a strong number of ladies both in the junior and senior categories, and all supportive of each other with congratulations and support as the weekend progressed. Elise started the competition putting in an 18. With some focus Elise put in a 20 which was well deserved. Elise slogged away at each target hanging on to the 20 by the skin of her teeth. A 17 was achieved with one layout presenting some challenging low targets which caught a few of the shooters out. It was a good squad with 2 junior ladies and one senior lady so Elise was in good company with Dawn Breen and Savannah Beals also putting in a 17 on the same layout. Going into the last round Elise was confident and looked solid all the way through but excitement just let the last target slip away and Elise finished the round on a 22. In day 2 solid and consistent day saw Elise put in a 21, 18, 20, 21 putting her overall score for the weekend on 157/200. Amazing weekend which secured Elise the England Championship Lady Junior Silver, 5th overall in Ladies joint with fellow squad member Dawn Breen. British Shooting held their first official Olympic Trap Mixed Pairs Selection Shoot at Nuthampstead, whilst it was a quiet competition the atmosphere was great, Elise and her partner Ben Killian was ready to beat their first experience back in March. Elise and Ben put in an overall score of 120/150 giving them 3rd in Juniors. Thank you to all those that have supported Elise, family, friends but especially her coach Aaron Heading and the Priory Clay Target Centre, Beverley Clay Target Centre, Malmo Guns, Cheddite, DryFire and Anglo-Italian Arms. It is fantastic that juniors are supported by companies and grounds to be future athletes.
