October Pull! Report - 2018

Hi all, the last month has seen a fair amount of activity by the Norfolk shooters and I would like to thank Ray and Duane for contributing to this months reports. Elise Dixon travelled to Nuthampstead on the 21 July for the final Olympic Trap England Selection/English Open. It was a fantastic event to end the 2018 selections for the home nations. Elise secured the Junior Ladies bronze and third in D Class and has been selected for the Commonwealth Shooting Federation (European Divisions) taking place in Northern Ireland. Best of luck to Elise.

5 Aug: Norfolk ABT Championship The Norfolk ABT Championship was held at the Priory Clay Target Centre in very good conditions with a turnout of 16 Norfolk shooters and two from Lincolnshire enjoying the targets set by ‘OT world number one’ Aaron Heading. High Gun and Vet champion was Richard Gilbert on 96 closely followed by Senior shooters for High Gun Simon Owen and Jason Matthewson both on 95. Ladies champion on a solid 86 was Laura Shinn and Colt champion, on an impressive 91, was William Gilbert who is a young gun to watch for the future. Firstly congratulations to Richard Bunning on winning this year’s World Championship at Churchills Shooting Ground. This is Richard’s second major this year after winning the English Championship just a few weeks previous. Special mention also to Dave Gooding on securing his first England team place along with Richard they both helped England to the team gold medal. A magnificent achievement considering the depth and strength of the American Team. The Norfolk Sporting Championship was held at Mid Norfolk at the end of July. As always the event was closely contested an early lead from Dave Gooding 91 fresh from his World Championship success was eventually passed by virtually the last man in, Mark Goddard, with a fantastic score of 96, great shooting Mark. Veterans Champion was Ian Hallwood, Juniors Champion was Charlie Soanes and a special mention to Katie Neave who, in only her second year of competition, won the Ladies Championship with a personal best score 76. This year’s East Midlands Inter-counties Championship was held at Highwaymans Shooting Ground in early August. A full contingent of teams was present for the shoot, Seniors, Ladies, Veterans and Juniors which is always nice to see. I’m pleased to report the Senior team actually beat their old rivals Suffolk to win the team championship so congratulations to Duane Morley, Jordan Sayer, Mark Goddard, Dave Gooding, Brian Melton, Steve Herrieven, Stephen Ames and Mark Beck. And once again I would like to say a big thanks to all the Norfolk teams who participated. Duane Morley
