March Pull! Report - 2019

Welcome to the March Norfolk Pull! Thank you for the reports that have been sent in. Please keep them coming. On 25 November the last Norfolk Championship for the year was contested at the Priory kindly run by Aaron and Natasha. It was led from the start by William Gilbert, who shot very well to post 144pts, but he was overtaken by Pat Houghton who managed a very good 25/75 in his second round to set a target of 146pts. He had to wait for a few more shooters to go through, but the best posted was a 140pts in the last round by myself to be third. I think it is worth mentioning that Pat is over 70 and this was his tenth county championship win, coming nearly 40 years after his first – which is some effort to keep that level of enthusiasm and performance going, so well done Pat. As the season ends for most, Elise Dixon takes advantage of the last competitions around the country. Having qualified for the British Shooting Shotgun Series Grand Final, Elise trekked up to Wales. One of Elise’s favourite grounds, the scenery and backdrop being stunning as autumn arrives, however, the weather was somewhat wintery than autumn temperatures. Elise took advantage of the complimentary practice round, with Friday being fairly quiet considering the number of athletes qualified. Day one was wet, windy and cold but Elise stayed focussed and closed the day with 56/75. Going into day two was even colder, plus there was the added pressure of a camera man and photographer. Squeezed into the layout, it was a new experience and one Elise managed well. Elise finished on 91/125, claiming Junior Ladies bronze. A great achievement at such an early stage in her shooting career. Elise didn’t stop there. At the British Shooting Pathway Championships she took Junior Ladies bronze. Following this she jetted off to Malaga for the last Grand Prix of the year, with the benefits of the sun. Elise made the most of her time abroad, shooting for six days. Sadly, there was no medal, as Elise was the only Junior Lady who entered the event. Good luck to Elise for 2019.
