June Pull! Report - 2022

We are now well into the competition season and have had our first two County Championships. Congratulations to the new County Champions and good luck to everyone who is planning to compete in the remaining championships this season.

24 Apr: Norfolk FITASC Championship, Eriswell Lodge This was the first County Championship of the year and was held over two days in conjunction with the Suffolk and Cambridgeshire CPSA championships. The weather was good with sunny intervals and a good variety of targets across the layouts, with some to challenge even the most experienced competitors. Carson Revell was crowned County Champion with a score of 91 after narrowly beating Tim Sayer, Jonathan Ball, and Simon Peacock by two targets. This score was enough to give Tim the Veterans title, having beaten John Dyson by three targets. This year the Ladies title went to Heather Pointer for an amazing 11th time, and the Junior title was won by Jamie Goddard. Thank you to our hosts Eriswell Lodge, their staff and referees for such a well-run, enjoyable but testing championship.

1 May: Norfolk County English Skeet Championship, The Priory CTC Our second County Championship was the Skeet with 20 Norfolk entrants – a good total considering the number of other shoots on the same day. It was always going to be a very close contest, but this year’s Norfolk Skeet champion was Jonathan Hall with a score of 98. He managed to just hold off Sean Crutchfield and John Glover who both finished just a point behind. Sean managed to shoot 75-straight, but then unfortunately missed three clays in the last round. The Veterans title went to Trevor Frammingham with a score of 96. The next highest scoring Vet was John Reynolds on 90, a decent score for someone more usually found shooting the Trap disciplines. This year’s Ladies title went to Alison Coupe who shot a good score of 91. Thank you to Natasha and Aaron for hosting this championship for our county, and to all the staff and referees for their help in running this event. If you have not already put your name down for consideration for the team to be selected to compete at the Regional Inter-Counties Championship in September please contact us or Jonathan Hall.

Sporting News April saw some fantastic results for our Sporting shooters with Jake Moore, Richard Bunning, and David Gooding travelling to National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, Texas for the English Sporting World Championship. Jake was a member of the England Team who were Senior Runners-up. Richard scored an excellent 180ex200 with his borrowed gun, just missing out on the Super Final. Sam Green has also been busy, competing in the Blaser Cup at Orston SG, coming joint fourth in AAA Class. He then competed at the Essex Masters Championship at Hepworth Hall SG against over 2,000 competitors, getting into and then winning the Super Final. A fantastic achievement.

Trap News William Gilbert has started the year well with a Junior title at the English Open UTR Championship held at Nuthampstead over the Bank Holiday weekend. He returned there for the second England ABT Selection Shoot and equalled his personal best of 98 on the first day, finishing fourth Overall on day two.
