Norfolk Skeet 2017

This years Norfolk Skeet Championship was held again at Eriswell Lodge on Sunday 16th July. There was an entry of 34 shooters with 16 from Norfolk trying to win this years Norfolk Skeet Championship title. The entry was a little low as the World English Sporting was being held at Kelmarsh on the same day where several regular skeet shooters would have been in attendance. Last years Champion Duane Morley was also not available to defend his title and so this years Championship looked to have a fresh champion.

In the first few squads of the day Paul Freeman posted his score of 97/100 to put him in the pole position for this title which he won back in 2014 but was it enough with so many title contenders still yet to shoot. Steve Smith and John Hall former England internationals soon took over the lead with 98/100 which put them in joint first place. As most squads came in there were a lot of mid 90s posted but none where able to beat Steve and John's score of 98. With a shoot off looking close to taking place the last squad of the day came in with Gareth Maund posting an incredible 99/100 to take the lead and Norfolk Skeet Championship title for 2017.

In the veterans class we had another hotly contested battle with Norfolk skeet captain Trevor Frammingham leading the way with his 95/100 which looked unbeatable with so many scores not able to reach his great score. But this wasn't to be for Trevor as John Dyson came in with a late 96/100 to take the veterans title away from Trevor at the last.

We sadly had no Norfolk ladies in the competition but in the Junior category we had young Archy Stannard shooting a personal best where he scored an impressive 95/100 which gave young Archy the Norfolk Junior title and also C class. Well done Archy! Certainly one to watch out for in the future.

We would like to thank Stuart and his team at Eriswell Lodge for holding this Norfolk Championship and also the shooters who attended this shoot, without you we would not be able to run these championships. I would also like to personally thank Trevor Frammingham for his pictures and report in my absence due to work commitments.
