North Region DTL shooter, Paul Chaplow has achieved his most challenging and remarkable ambition to date – to be the first man in recorded history to hit 100 perfect 100/300 scores at DTL!
46 year old Paul – a Plumber/Heating Engineer from Malton, North Yorkshire reached this unbelievable milestone at North of England Activity Centre (Rufforth) on Saturday 17th of May 2014 – very fitting that this was the very same ground where he shot his first 100/300 way back in April 2003!
Since those early days, a myriad of accolades and titles have fallen his way, including 2009 English Open Champion, 2010 Dougall Memorial Trophy winner, European DTL Champion in 2010 & 2012, 2010 Scottish Open Champion, 2011 Welsh Open Champion and many, many others too numerous to record here – but can be viewed at http://www.krieghoff.co.uk/shooterprofile-paulchaplow.html
Paul was also the first person to shoot 400 x 100 ‘straights’ – this coming with a perfect 100/300 at the Dougall Memorial, Bywell in June 2010 and continuing his sequence of hitting a maximum when it really counts, reached his 500th ‘straight’ with another 100/300 on the second day of the World Championships at Mid-Wales SG in July 2012. His current tally of ‘straights’ stands at 571 – clocking up three more ‘tons’ (and another perfect 100/300 on the first day) at the Krieghoff Classic at Mid-Wales in May.  With the ‘Dougall’ at Bywell in June 2014, no-one would bet against Paul continuing to add to this total in the very near future, and he categorically states he not contemplating ‘retirement’ any time soon – at least, not until he has at least 150 ‘perfects’ under his belt!
Since 2005 Paul has shot (and been sponsored by) Krieghoff – he currently shoots a custom-made K80 prepared by Alan Rhone Ltd, using (sponsored) Hull Sovereign cartridges.
As a member and Vice-Chair of the North Region CPSA Committee, Paul is a valuable and extremely influential voice in the Region and nationally, and the heartfelt congratulations of all in the North are extended to him, and we are looking forward to him reaching his next memorable target – a 600th ‘straight’!
