Skeet Management Report 2015
2015 has been an outstanding year for skeet shooters in the north. We have seen some amazing success stories and have had some hungry new contenders arrive on the scene and firmly make a stamp. Competition brings out the best in everyone!
There were 4 northern boys in the England senior team - Garry Cooke, Paul Dodd, Andy Parsons and new cap, Ross Elgie. Garry was high gun at the Home International with the only 150 straight which is a superb achievement. Ross and Paul were very close behind with 149 and both went into the very tense 6 man shoot off. Ross was victorious and finished in 2nd place.
Congratulations must also go to Steve Leppington who made his debut in the England veterans team - there’s life in the old dog yet!!
Well done to Russ Dean who was runner up In the English Open Skeet Doubles - something tells me he is one to watch and I’m sure we will be seeing his name on more than one trophy next year!
Victor Annand had a superb finish to the season by winning the Side by Side Trophy at the British Open with a score of 95. This is quite a score but he tells me it could have been more if he’d not dropped the cartridge in the wrong barrel for his option bird!!
Not content with success in their own backyard the northern boys went over the borders on the trophy hunt with great results -
Paul Dodd - Scottish Open Skeet Doubles Winner (99)
Ross Elgie - Scottish Open Skeet Winner (100)
Paul Dodd - Welsh Open Skeet Winner (100)
Paul Dodd - Ulster Open Skeet Winner (100)
The National Inter-Counties saw the Yorkshire team put their name on the trophy for the 5th consecutive year. Well done to Steve Leppington, Garry Cooke, Andy Parsons, Jon Caines and Ross Elgie.
In shocking weather conditions Andy Parsons bagged the only 100 straight to bring home the Belvoir Cup.
And finally, Ross Elgie finished his amazing successful year by winning the Coronation cup, proving what an all round outstanding talent he is.
Congratulations to all and apologies if I’ve missed anyone out - you were all brilliant!
