DTL Managers Report 2017
AGM DTL 2017 We would like to begin with congratulating the North region on how well you have shot over 2017.
The first major DTL event of the year was the Krieghoff Classic and our very own Paul Chaplow won this event once again, for the second year running. We had a good turnout this year for all 6 of the North region selection shoots. The well supported and strongly contested selections gave the North some very strong teams. In the regional competition held at Bywell during the English Open all the teams shot marvellously winning all but one category. Well done to the North.
On the 10th June at Bywell shooting ground the Dougall Memorial shoot took place. Once again the North was represented with some of the best shooters. Austin Coxhead came 3rd overall after a very tense shoot off, well done Austin. Mark Delf shot a fabulous 100/297 to win the Disabled Standing category.
On the following day the English Open took place. Austin Coxhead, Mark Delf and Ian Douglas all shot 100/298. After a shoot off, Austin come out victorious to be crowned the English Open Champion. Mark Delf took the runner up position along with the Disabled Standing category and Ian Douglas completed a northern podium finishing 3rd overall. In the classes, Paul Turner won AA Class after a shoot off and James Tate took the B Class honours. James also came second in the Junior event after a tense shoot off. Ryan Sharpe came second in the Colts category. Finally Emma Holden finished on 98/290 to win High Gun in the Ladies category. Well done to all the shooters who competed.
The North of England was well represented in the England teams representing their country in the Home International and British Open held at the National Shooting Centre, Scotland in July. In the Home International Tom Robinson was the highest scoring England Shooter, shooting a score of 100/297. Well done to him.
Turning to the British Open the following day Austin Coxhead was in yet another shoot off, in which he came runner up. He made sure in the following European Championship that no shoot off was needed as he shot 200/600 and gained that title too. Well shot to Austin on all his achievements throughout 2017. Paul Chaplow was the high gun of the two days in the British Open and Home International with a score of 593.
On the 15th October the National Intercounties competition was held at North of England CTC. The Northern counties were victorious in both the Veterans and the Ladies category, congratulations to all the team members. In the individual competition the north won all but one category. Tom Robinson won a shoot off to be crowned individual high gun, Charlotte Kitchen won the Ladies with 99/294 and Josh Rayner won the Colts. John Twigg won the Veterans with 100/298, a score which marked his 400th 100 straight, congratulations John on a remarkable milestone. The results at the Intercounties were an excellent achievement by all the Northern shooters. So all in all the North region has once again had a very good year in Down the Line. We hope this will continue and wish you all good shooting in 2018.
