ABT Managers Report 2017

The ABT 2017 Year

At the ENGLISH OPEN our senior regional team were runners up where as our veterans team were successful after a shoot off, the team members were

A Thompson J Randerson and J Broardbent and the team collected there well deserved awards from CPSA officials.

At the same event there was a shoot off for high gun of the day between four shooters on 195x200  three of whom were from the north of England region the fourth being Olympian Mr Ed Ling from Somerset, the power of the north once again shone through with Mr Mark Shaw from Cumbria taking the high gun whilst  Chris Tate and David Lloyd were 2nd  and 3RD respectively, this was truly a very successful event for northern shooters who by their efforts demonstrated the quality of shooters we have in this region.

Also this year’s Senior England ABT team consisted of half of the team being from this region and who’s scores at the event were all in the top six of the team scores at its conclusion with John Lucy from Merseyside taking the New Cap High Gun trophy with a score of 190x200 whilst another new cap Adam Homes this time in the junior team scored 184X200 to take the junior high gun trophy.

This year’s British Open ABT championship was held after the home international in Ireland and once again northern shooters shot very well indeed with David Lloyd taking high gun whilst yorkshireman Chris Tate was runner up, both men with scores of 97x100

An excellent result not only for the Northern region but also the CPSA itself as it was Ireland.

And finally the National Intercounties  ABT held at NCSC where for the 11th year in succession the Yorkshire senior team were victorious a 6 man team with 5 scores to count the team average on the day was 94 kills and some 20 targets in front of their nearest rivals Herford and Worcester.

The team  members on an individual basis also secured 1st  3RD AND 4TH POSITIONS with an entry level of 79 guns in attendance.

The team in squad order were;

S Linley  91 D Linley 92 C Tate 95 I Ainsley 98 J Thompson 94 S Akers 86 470x500

It is also worth of note that Cumbrian Mark Shaw was honoured by the CPSA being selected to captain this year’s Olympic Trap team for the Home International in Scotland and Yorkshire man Ian Ainsley was also honoured to be selected to captain the England ABT team for the home international in Ireland.

So an excellent year indeed for shooters from the North of England and long may it continue.
