We would like to begin with congratulating all North Region shooters for their performance over 2019. There have been some stand out Individual performances and some fantastic team results.
We began the year with the NOE Selection shoots. These were once again very well supported and strongly contested. This gave the North some very strong regional teams. These teams performed excellently at Bywell, with the Seniors, Juniors and Ladies taking the win for the North Region.
This year’s DTL Weekend saw some fantastic individual performances with Northern Shooters consistently making the podium in both classes and categories across the weekend.
Paul Chaplow was the High Gun at the Sponsored DTL with James Tate taking 2nd in Juniors and Emma Holden 3rd in Ladies.

Emma Holden carried on her outstanding form to become the British Open DTL Ladies Champion and Cory Doble took the colts title too. Congratulations to both.

After a massive four days of shooting there had been some amazing results for the Northern Shooters. We would just like to say well done to all who competed and won titles, medals and Trophies.

This years North of England Championship was held at East Yorkshire Clay Shooting Ground. Both Adrian Parish and Daniel Beedan shot 100/299 meaning that a shoot off was needed to establish the winner. Daniel was victorious becoming this year’s NOE champion, whilst Adrian took the Veteran title. There was also a shoot off in the Ladies competition with Emma Holden, Andrea Swatts and Leanne Powell all shooting 100/297. Emma eventually came out victorious. It was absolutely amazing to see 3 ladies all from the same region shooting such a fabulously high score. Well done ladies. Young William Taylor was also victorious in the Junior category. Congratulations to all the winners, very well deserved.

We finished this year’s season with the National Intercounties DTL at Northampton SG. Despite the long Journey we had some incredible team performances and victories at this event. A massive congratulations to Yorkshire’s senior team who won the event and to the Lancashire team in runner up spot. It is just fabulous to have two northern teams at the top of the leader board. The Yorkshire Ladies team were also victorious for the 4th consecutive year. Individual congratulations must go the Yorkshire’s Nigel Chapman who shot an unmatched 100/299 to win the event and Lancashire’s Emma Holden who completed her year with yet another title. Well done all and a massive thank you to all shooters who made the journey to Northampton to represent the northern counties.

Lastly, we would like to mention the huge achievement that one Northern shooter has achieved. In February 2019, Paul Chaplow won the overall spring grand competition in Tuscon, America. He is the first international winner ever to win this event, where 700 shooters took part. Well done on this fantastic achievement.

So, as you can see the North region shooters have once again had an excellent year in Down the line. I must pass a special congratulations to both Cory Doble and Emma Holden who this year have taken the English, British and European open titles in their respective categories. Congratulations to you both.

2020 will be an extra special year for northern DTL with the World Championships coming to Bywell in July. We wish you all good shooting and cannot wait to see what the coming year holds.
