Cheshire ESP Team Selection Update 3:-

Old Glossop SG situated on the outskirts of the Peak District was the chosen venue for the ESP 3rd Selection shoot of 2017.

Some thirty four competitors from Cheshire made their way to the Derby Dales on a day where the weather was perfect throughout. The 100 targets were shot over 13 stands, all of which were positioned against a sloping background. It was apparent from the offset that although the targets appeared straight forwards, it was easy and in some cases, very easy to drop one or even two on most stands.

This was not the case for our in form Junior member, Fred Whitehurst, who blasted his way around finishing the course on an incredible 94 only to be beaten by one clay on the day. Very well done Fred.

Most of us found the course quite tricky at times, particularly where the ‘Kangaroo’ rabbit was but others were well focused, particularly Miles Machin, who had started the course in reverse at Stand 13 and who had shot straight on the first seven stands. What happened after that………….Well an 87 is quite good!!!

Another notable score that came in early was from J. Woodcock with 93 which was the Cheshire Senior High Gun of the day.

The Vets category saw both M.J. Matthews and M. Snelling finish on 85 and Ladies High Gun was Kerry Oakley on 74.

I would like to thank each and everyone of you that attended for your support and also to the ground staff for their efforts during the day and look forward to our next selection shoot at Garlands SG on the 18th June 2017 and wish all of you continued good shooting in the mean time.

Regards,

Paul Ellis-ESP Manager.
