Cheshire CPSA End of Season Report

At the beginning of this year we were honoured to have won the County Committee of the year voted for by you the members and once again we find ourselves shortlisted for the very same title as well as the late Kevin Howarth being shortlisted for the title of Volunteer of the year. So we ask you once again to take to your keyboards and keep Cheshire on the map by voting for the County Committee and of course for our friend Kevin Howarth, the link is here for you to connect https://www.cpsa.co.uk/avote or go to the CPSA website.

We had some fantastic selection shoots through the year which were very well attended in all disciplines with many people wanting to shoot for the County of Cheshire. Many of these succeeded resulting in plenty of new caps. This bodes well for the future of Cheshire shooting. Many shooters had a go at different disciplines to their norm resulting in one or to upsets , always good to upset the status quo, trap shooters  shooting sporting and skeet shooters shooting trap and sporting well of course they can shoot anything. There was a lot of ribbing and great fun all round and can only imagine it being even more fun next season, bring it on. At the National Sporting event in Suffolk Cheshire was represented by the largest number of shooters, a testament to the dedication of all involved. This year  some Cheshire shooters gained their first England cap.

We have been very fortunate this year to have had many generous sponsors not only for the team polo shirts but also for the many new trophies that are now up for grabs.

One of the great successes of the year is of course our ladies shooting events, Cheshire Ladies on the Pull, which even though still in it’s infancy have been received fantastically well. The competition has been great and many ladies who have never shot have enjoyed the days immensely, please look out in the new year for some exciting things to come Ladies.

Our grounds this year have done us proud with great targets, not only with the selection shoots and Cheshire Championships but holding Inter County and National events too. We used many different grounds through the year and would like to thank them all for their support and professionalism.

This year has been a great year for Cheshire CPSA with the senior sporting shooters winning the Inter Counties, Gun Up and Veterans in the Lyavale Shield and only 2 points from the overall top spot. But the icing on the cake has to be winning two prestigious National events in both Skeet and Down the Line never before achieved.

As a committee we have been working hard to keep you informed as what is going on as quickly as possible, setting the selection shoots organising the teams, holding master classes through the year, the team managers have done a great job, and getting your mug shots on our website and Hall of Fame.

We hope to see you all during the next season so keep honing those skills and good luck.

Please don’t forget to vote.

The AGM will be held at Catton Hall Shooting Ground on 24th January 2018 commencing at 7.30pm, hope to see you there.
