Cheshire ESP Selection Shoot - Oakedge SG 1st April 2018
The first ESP selection shoot saw a fantastic turnout of some 33 Cheshire competitors at Oakedge SG on a mild but clear day.
A course of twelve stands had been set which incorporated a good variety of differing targets, The ‘close to Rabbit’ stand caused a few problems for some but the one that appeared to cause the most problems was ‘Charlie's stand’ which saw a simultaneous pair of high driven where the author struggled somewhat but the more proficient of you did not. I had the pleasure of accompanying, the current in form Ian Cunliffe, who completed the course with a score of 87/100 and I am sure he would not mind me saying that he dropped conceivably six targets which other times would have been in the bag. Well shot Ian who finished as Cheshire’s overall High Gun on the day. There were some other notable scores being posted which were quite impressive considering this to be the first selection shoot of 2018 and I suspect some sneaky, out of season, practicing had been going on???
In the seniors category, Eddie Wilkinson with 85, Mr Steady Mark Oakley posting an 83 late on and the ‘never give up attitude’ of Gareth Owen with an 82. Well done all.
The Ladies category saw Kerry Oakley put in a respectable 75.
In the Vet category, Mike Holland posted a great score of 86 and John Shreeve with a steady 80, (Mr Consistent himself)
I would like to thank Paul and his staff at Oakedge for providing the facilities on the day and also to each and everyone of you who attended for your support. I look forwards to meeting up with you and all other Cheshire shooters at our next selection shoot at Orston SG on the 20th May 2018 if not before.
Continued good shooting.
