West Midlands Inter-counties ESP - Kingsley Moor SG - 30th September 2018

The West Midlands Inter Counties ESP Event was hosted by Kingsley Moor SG, Staffordshire on Sunday 30th September 2018. The weather overall remained kind for most of the day and the course setters presented fourteen stands of a variety of targets. A majority of the stands incorporated simultaneous pairs which assisted in smooth running and very few queues. It was a testing course in particular the high ‘Fast’ simultaneous driven midi and standard clays and the right to left ‘Chondel’ on stand 5 which disappeared in the tree background. I believe that overall the ground staff and organisers put on a good event throughout including the ‘Champion of Champions shoot off at the end of the day which saw some excellent shooting witnessed by numerous spectators who had stayed behind for the presentation.  (Congratulations to Gavin Heath from Staffordshire who not only collected his silverware but £400 cash sponsored by West Midlands CPSA and Kingsley Moor SG.)

Now to the results - Cheshire CPSA put in nine teams, a first, as far as I can recall which shows a strong commitment to this Sport within Cheshire.

The Seniors Gold Team : Scott Barnett, (90) Brett Davies,(88) Tony Dean,(81) Mark Oakley,(86) Kevin Barnett(77) and James Woodcock(79) collected Silver medals and were beaten by Staffordshire by a margin of 22 clays.

Both the Vets Teams were in the medals, Vets Red Team, Nigel Lane,(72) Colin Foden,(66) and Rob Rolfe (86) collected silver medals missing out on the Gold by 1, yes one clay. The Vets Gold Team, Mike Holland,(83) John Shreeve (73) and Maurice Snelling(70) collected the bronze medals.

The Ladies Gold Team were also in the medals, Hazel Denney,(50) Elaine Foden,(64) Kerry Oakley(85) collected the silver medals.

The Juniors Gold Team, George Forrester-Coles, (69) Fred Whitehurst,(89) Tom Woodcock(76) collected the Gold Medals.

Well done to each and everyone of you it was quite satisfying to see the medal haul for Cheshire but for me personally to see and receive the support time and effort given by ALL the Cheshire competitors this day, thank you. A big thanks also must go To F.A. MOSS (Albert) for his sponsorship in providing polo shirts and caps for some of our Ladies and Juniors and new caps to Cheshire.

Below are some photographs of our new members receiving their Cheshire Badges (wear it with pride). Also some of our members receiving their well deserved medals.

BRING ON THE NATIONAL INTER COUNTIES NEXT WEEK (6th & 7th) AT ORSTON SG.

Continued good shooting and best of health to you all.
