Cheshire Wins CPSA County Committee of the Year for 3rd year running

CPSA Press Release - Cheshire CPSA Named Top County for Third Year in a Row.

Cheshire Clay Pigeon Shooting Association (CPSA) was named the County Committee of the Year for the third year in a row by the National Governing Body for clay-target shooting in England, the CPSA, at the 2019 CPSA Annual Awards at the Belfry Hotel in Sutton Coldfield on 2 February.

The Country Committee of the Year Award is presented to the county committee that has ‘gone the extra mile’ and made positive contributions to the sport of clay shooting, from grassroots participation through to team management, growing and governing the sport while underpinning the core demands of a county committee. CPSA Independent Director Dave Rollason presented the award, which was accepted by Ian Cunliffe, Scott Barnet, and Miles Machin.

Cheshire CPSA have developed a five-year plan to improve the level of shooting in Cheshire and increase the membership of the CPSA. They encourage women to get into clay shooting with their Ladies Clay Shooting League, which also won the CPSA’s Development Initiative of the Year on the awards night. This year also saw Cheshire CPSA’s largest donation to date to their chosen charity, the North West Air Ambulance.

Miles Machin, Chairman of the Cheshire CPSA, stated that wining County Committee of the Year for a third year in a row is ‘overwhelming, and a credit to the hard work of all the members of the committee, and managers who look after each discipline’. He added ‘Winning the Development Initiative of the Year award with the Ladies Clay Shooting League was the icing on the cake after such a fabulous year.’

The CPSA Annual Awards night is a cornerstone event in the clay shooting calendar. Former EastEnders and Extras actor Shaun Williamson hosted the evening and helped to present awards that recognised up-and-coming young shots, coaches, shooting grounds, and grassroots organisations that promote the sport.

The CPSA is the National Governing Body for Clay Target Shooting in England, supporting clay target shooting enthusiasts across the UK and promoting the highest standards of excellence. The CPSA regulates the standards of safety and competition at over 300 affiliated and registered grounds around the country, promoting and organising national championships in sixteen different clay-shooting disciplines.
