CHESHIRE ESP FOURTH SELECTION SHOOT - ORSTON SG - 16th JUNE 2019

The fourth Cheshire ESP Selection shoot was hosted by Orston SG and credit must initially be given to the owners, Dan and Emily, for getting the ground ready and setting up a very good course despite the horrendous weather with torrential rain throughout the previous week. The course was over thirteen stands which was quite testing with a variety of clay sizes and colours and where speed and angles definitely caught the unaware out. Some thirty two Cheshire competitors made their way to Nottingham for this event, Seniors, Ladies, Juniors and Vets and each found it more tricky than expected. Scott Barnett was Cheshire High Gun on the day with a respectable 85, Guy Robinson on a 82, Peter Fitkin and Mike Holland on 80 and these were the only ones in the 80’s.

The course saw some very testing targets with simultaneous pairs high from left to right at a distance, an orange Teal target causing concern to some evident by the changing of chokes, rabbit clays about twelve metres away and a blue coloured  low left to right crosser were some of the main features. Fortunately the weather stayed reasonable for most of the day and it was only towards the end with the last few squads out that the rain came lashing down.

I would like to express my personal thank you to all of you from Cheshire that made the journey and also to all the staff at Orston SG, including the catering staff, for providing excellent service throughout the day. We now look forwards to our next selection shoot which is to be held at Mickley Hall SG on Saturday 13th July 2019. (Please note that you will have to book in for this one with the ground direct as it will be squadded.

Continued best wishes and good shooting.
