Eley Grand Prix - Mickley Hall - 12th - 15th June

The third running of the Eley Grand Prix was held at Mickley Hall Shooting School from 12th to 15th June. It was a great success with almost 300 entrants, some travelling from as far as Cornwall and Suffolk. The unique “Super Sporting” event of 120 targets over 12 stands was challenging for everybody. Using 4 traps per stand, throwing 4 single targets with full use of gun, 2 on report pairs, and 1 simo pair. Scott Barnett said “It has been very well  received, with a lot of great feedback from many of the competitors”. Heavy rain throughout the four days made it difficult for the staff and competitors alike, with a couple of stands needing to be pumped out before shooting could start.  The single targets on their own were one thing, but shot together as a on report pair, or simo pair, well that was something else. Speed of swing and accuracy was essential to get a good score. Overall high gun was Henry Collins from Northants with 111. Many Cheshire shooters were amongst the prize winners, they are. Carl Vickers 2nd AA class 107, Steve Randles 3rd AA class 106, Barry Peacock 2nd C class 85, Miles Machin joint 3rd Vet 100, Roy Birchall 3rd Sup Vet 90, Kerry Oakley 3rd Lady 93, Fred Whitehurst 2nd Jnr 100, Ben Rimmer 2nd Colt 82, and James Pickup 3rd Colt 72. Congratulations to you all. We are looking forward to the next Grand Prix.
