West Mids Inter-counties Olympic Trap - Fauxdegla SG - 11th August
Sunday August 11th saw OT shooters head to Fauxdegla Shooting Ground. Cheshire Seniors team won the event with 416 ex 500. Second Hereford and Worcs 414, third Shropshire 396, Cheshire B 374, and Derbyshire 347.
Cheshire Senior Team consisted of Dave O’Donnell (team HG with 87 x 100), Andy Pownall (86), Paul Gowrie (84), Mike Faux (80), Fred Thornley (79), and Bob Gallagher (78).
Cheshire B Team consisted of 2 Vets (Chris Bushell and Kevin O’Reilly ), 2 Ladies (Hazel Denny and Jeanette Bushell) and 2 Juniors (Fred Whitehurst and Tom Watson). Cheshire was once again the only county to enter teams in these categories and once again there were no medals provided – a shame.
In the Area Open Championships Cheshire shooters featured in the medals, Tom Watson (82) took Junior Silver, Hazel Denny (73) took Ladies Silver, Andy Pownall (86) took Veterans Silver and Paul Gowrie (84) Veterans Bronze.
On another note, it is good to hear that Fred Thornley has no only qualified for the England OT Team, but is this year’s Captain.
