Round two of the Inter Counties Championships was the ABT at Nottingham, disappointingly many counties failed to be able to field a team of one description or another, leaving a shortfall of fourteen category teams. Saying that it did not detract from a good standard of scores and any winners can feel justifiably proud of their achievements.

The senior category as you would expect was well patronised with just Bed’s and Northants failing to muster a side. The Nott’s seniors dominated proceedings and overwhelmed other teams with sheer consistency of scoring, out of the six man squad five weighed in with 90+ scores with Russ Hufton leading the way on a massive 97, Jody Clarke backed that up with a 96 as did Paul Meakin 95, Mick Feather 91, Ricky Crowshaw 90 and Lee Clements completed the line up to finish Nott’s on a team score of 379.

A team tie for second place between Lincolnshire and Norfolk had to be decided by a shoot off, with the far travelling Norfolk boys running out the winners of the runners up trophies

The veteran’s title was secured by the Lincolnshire team with a huge team total of 188, Bob Richardson top scoring on 95; John Stephenson 93, Brian Drewery 88 and Terry Taylor 82 completed the winning quartet, Nott’s finished in  second place a couple of clays behind, Ken Rimington impressing on 96.

The ladies team title went to the Suffolk duo of Pearl Butters 91 and Pauline Chapman 85 who edged out a trio from Lincs headed by Tracey Bridge who top scored on 90, the winning margin being just four clays as the Suffolk girls took the title on a team score of 176.

The junior title was a two county race with only Nott’s and Lincs being able to field a side plus a lone Suffolk junior. Jack Wilkinson and Billy Caton took the honours back to Lincolnshire with an impressive score of 179 overcoming the home team score by six clays, Curtis Woolley top scoring with 89 for Nott’s, Jack’s efforts also saw him rewarded with the Junior High Gun trophy with a score of 92.

Finally many thanks to all the team at Nottingham & DGC for hosting the event.
