D.T.L Wrapped Up In Nott's
D.T.L. WRAPPED UP IN NOTT’S
(L-R) Tracey Bridge, Freddy Brown, Leanne Palmer, Ken Rimington, Curtis Woolley and Paul Meakin.
The East Midlands CPSA kicked off its Championship season this year with the Regional DTL at Nottingham & District Gun Club and considering a Mother’s Day clash a healthy entry of 70 shooters pitched up to claim the first bragging rights of the year.
The bright but windy conditions took its toll and only three tons were recorded, Stuart Whitehead (100/292) from Lincolnshire doing enough to earn himself second place in A Class with his ton buts Nott’s junior Curtis Woolley (100/295) scored better on second barrel kills and took the silver medal in Seniors and gold and the winner’s trophy in juniors. Nott’s veteran Ken Rimington (99/296) only missed one target and scored one second barrel kill to take the overall title and with it the vets title, pushing Ken and Curtis all the way were fellow Nott’s shooters Paul Meakin (99/294) and Russ Hufton (100/294) with Paul taking the bronze medal as Rob had left the ground so no shoot off could take place.
Percy Rollings (98/291) making the long journey up from Cambridgeshire took the silver medal spot in the veterans class and Tony Whiting (96/285) completed the placings with the bronze medal.
A healthy turnout of eleven shooters contested the ladies trophy, but a trio of England Internationals rose to the top of the pile with Tracey Bridge (96/282) from Lincolnshire and Leanne Palmer also (96/282) from Leicestershire forced to shoot off for the trophy and the gold medal, Leanne ran out the winner after another round of 25, another Leicestershire lady Julie Smith completed the line up by taking the bronze medal on 94/276.
With Curtis Woolley dominating the junior event it was left to Jack Wilkinson from Lincolnshire to take the silver medal and Freddy Brown from Nottinghamshire the Bronze, Freddy is the latest shooter off the conveyer belt of Nott’s junior talent that continually comes through and although his first medal I’m sure we will be reading lots more about him in the coming years.
Finally a big thank you to Team Nottingham & District who as usual gave us all a superb day’s shooting.
