REGIONAL SHOOTERS TRIUMPH AT WORLD SPORTING

The Promatic World English Sporting Championships came to our region over the last week and once again our regional lads and lasses were in the thick of the action.

Well known Leicestershire Senior Ben Husthwaite took the ultimate prize by being crowned World Champion after two tense days of shooting over the red and blue courses where he recorded 94 on both which gave him a slender lead of just one over another regional hotshot Paul Simpson.

Ben and Paul being top of the pile qualified for the Super six final along with Norfolk’s Richard Bunning who had staggered people with his remarkable 97 on the red course, plus of course the big man himself George Digweed along with Carl Bloxham, Martin Myers and Nick Hendrick.

The Super six final took place in front of a large crowd with some very tasty targets on the menu, Ben maintained his one target lead throughout, with Paul settling for silver and George the bronze.
