Regional Olympic Skeet Championships
NICKI SHOWS THE BOY'S HOW TO DO IT.
NICKI BROCKLESBY - NORTHANTS
The Olympic Skeet East Midlands Championships were held at Northampton Shooting Ground on a blustery but bright day, with clays that would have ‘looped the loop’, (like the acrobatic planes from Sywell Airport were doing in the background), if they had had the opportunity. A well above average 18 shooters did well in the conditions and were patient for the troublesome low house, which tried to cause additional problems. Luckily, Pete and Roy were on hand to provide immediate assistance, if required. The entry was not expected to be high, but in the end, four squads were needed to complete a full day’s shooting. Squad 3 was the dream team, with GB, English and Scottish National shooters all vying for the lead. In the end, the top three places were separated by four clays and the top score of 91 would have been a MQS for the Olympics!
The winning shooter was Nicki Brocklesby (Northants) taking the EM Regional Championships, Andrew Lea (Northants) 3 clays behind and Gary Taylor (Lincs) third just one further clay back. Nikki also gathered up the Ladies Regional Championship and the Northants Championship to complete a triple win! In the Vets, Mick Taylor (Lincs) took the Championship and Gary Taylor completed his double with the Junior Regional Championship.
Many thanks to the shooters and their supporters, who made the day.
Bob Meadows – Northants CPSA Secretary
I would also like to say thank you to Bob and Martine at Northampton Shooting Ground for running the event in my forced absence.
