STEVE ANDREWS

STEVE ANDREWS

It is my sad duty to have to inform you of the sad death of Steve Andrews (Leics) who lost his long battle with cancer early today Wednesday 5th Jan 2011.

Steve was one of the most qualified coaches in the country based at Kibworth and was responsible for many shooters in our region getting the right start in our sport. He has always been a keen supporter of shooting in our region and indeed nationally where he played an active part in the politics of clay pigeon shooting. Steve in fact was one of those people that persuaded me into applying for the position of Regional Director and was regularly phoning me to find out what was going on and offering his advice and technical Knowledge. Most recently Steve was appointed as the regions Coaching Sub Committee Representative and was excited at the prospect of the benefits that the post could bring to the shooters and the region. Steve was taken ill shortly after his appointment but still came along to the regional meeting to outline the plans for the future. Geoff Bryant was recruited to deputise for Steve during his illness and will continue this role for the foreseeable future under the guidance of Graham Walker (National Director).

Our thoughts and prayers are now with Steve’s wife Fran and family.

God Bless Steve.
