Regional FITASC Championships

DUNNE & DUSTED

JOHN DUNNE - EAST MIDS FITASC CHAMPION 2011

This year’s FITASC held at Kegworth broke all East Midlands records for attendance at this event with a bumper entry of 103 shooters. Originally designated for just the normal Sunday shoot day entries had to be extended to Saturday to accommodate the glut of entries not just from the region but from counties far and wide.

The weather over the two days was just about identical, no wind with probably Saturday shading it on the sunshine stakes. Gary Greet from Leicestershire was the region’s leading shooter on the Saturday with a score of 89, fellow county shooter Malc Husthwaite topped the Vets Saturday leader board with a score of 83 and Lincolnshire’s Rob Russell did the same topping  the Juniors on 86.

Sunday saw the bulk of the entry with a huge field of Vets especially, chasing Malc’s score. Richard Watkins (Leics) on 87 and fellow County shooter Paul Barker on 86 eclipsed Malc’s score finishing second and third respectively, but another Leicestershire shooter Steve Brightwell took the Vets title a full six clays clear on 93.

BECKY BREAM - LADIES CHAMPION

Becky Bream from Nott’s was sadly the lone Lady shooter from the Region but her score of 80 would very possibly have been a bridge to far for many on this testing course. Rob Russell was also unopposed in juniors but again his score of 86 would have pushed many a Junior.

STEVE BRIGHTWELL - VETS CHAMPION & RUNNER UP

The day’s latter squads finally threw up the winner John Dunne of Nottinghamshire with a score of 94 just a single clay in front of Steve Brightwell who added a runners up medal to his gold in Vets.

Third place was a tie between Gary Greet and Simon Davis from Nott’s but as Gary was not at the ground to contest a shoot-off Simon was awarded the bronze medal.

SIMON DAVIS - BRONZE MEDAL

Finally a vote of thanks to John Wroughton and his staff at Kegworth who gave us two days of trouble free shooting and received many positive comments on the quality of the shoot, we would also like to thank John for putting up the High Gun money plus cash in Ladies, Juniors & Vets classes.
