Regional Olympic Skeet Championships
ANDREW REGAINS THE TITLE
ANDREW LEA - NORTHANTS
Just a dozen shooters made the trip to Tythe Farm in Bedfordshire to compete in the East Midlands Regional Olympic Skeet Championships. Last year’s winner Nicki Brocklesby from Northamptonshire was in attendance keen to once again get one over on the boys, but even with a small field it was not going to be easy especially with the likes of fellow County shooter and former Champion Andrew Lea in attendance equally keen to regain the trophy.
After a keen competition Andrew finally asserted his authority scoring 94/100 pulling five clays clear of nearest rivals Nicki and regional unknown Freddie Killander a junior from Cambridgeshire. As this was a gold medal event no shoot off was required for minor placings but all left happy with Andrew as Regional Champion, Nicki claiming the Ladies title and Freddie the junior version along with the Cambridgeshire Senior County title. Veteran Ivor Seabrook from Bedfordshire and the owner of Tythe Farm used his local knowledge to overcome his nearest rival Rod Gifford to take the Vet’s title with a score of 83.
