Regional Olympic Trap Championships

JAMES RETAINS HIS TITLE AT BEVERLEY

John Winn - James Sole - Rachel Yardy

Beverley CTC hosted the Regional Olympic Trap Championships for the first time on a very busy weekend for regional shooters with no less than three events being held. All three shoots were blighted by windy conditions but the bright sunny day ensured a good turnout of shooters with 41 making the trip to Yorkshire.

James Sole from Cambridgeshire the reigning Champion made the long journey to defend his title and was rewarded with a score of 94 to finish all square with Lincolnshire shooter Carl Exton who in turn was three clays clear of third place finisher Tristram Allen from Leicestershire. It was decided that a sudden death shoot off should take place to decide the winner and it only took two clays to for James to retain his title.

Once again John “The Trap Master” Winn from Lincolnshire was in the thick of the action claiming his fourth title already this year by taking the Veterans Championship with a score of 89 some three clays clear of his nearest rival Mick Gent from Lincolnshire.

Rachel Yardy from Northants made the long trip to Beverley worthwhile claiming both the Ladies and the Junior titles with a score of 84, clear of nearest rival Rachel Parish from Nott’s by 5 clays.

Many thanks to Beverley CTC for hosting this year’s event, also thanks go to Alison Dupree for performing the presentation and providing much of the detail and photographs for this report.
