JUNE NEWS LETTER

I hope your all enjoying the fantastic weather we are having and getting some well earned shooting in without wearing the compulsory five layers of clothing to keep warm. I can’t help thinking we are going to pay for this weather in some way at some stage especially with some forecasters already predicting more sub zero temperatures and heavy snow come winter. We won’t worry about that just yet as we still have plenty of shooting to come, although it may surprise you to know we are half way through the regional calendar already.

The three Championships in May were all well contested but it seems like the grip held by the reigning Champions on some of these titles was too tight to break as many of them returned home with titles still intact, and yet again John Winn carried on his winning spree this time taking the Olympic Trap Veterans title at Beverley.

JUNE FIXTURES

Just two fixtures this month so as to avoid all the major shoots going on and we kick things off with the English Skeet on Sunday June 12th, this year held at Lakenheath CTC one of the premier skeet venues in the country. Lakenheath is not only known for skeet as history shows it has hosted the World Sporting Championships on two occasions and is currently a selected Olympic Training ground for London 2012. Two weeks later we return to the North of the Region to Nottingham & District Gun Club who once again will be hosting the Double Rise Championships on Sunday June 26th and as always you will be guaranteed a warm welcome at this popular Nottinghamshire venue. Well that’s just about it for this month but clear you diaries for July as we have something for just about everyone – on the menu are the Skeet Doubles, All Round, Sportrap and Double Trap. Finally if any of our Sporting shooters are going to Southern Counties for the English Open Sporting this weekend I would like to wish you all good luck.....I will be there on the Sunday and I look forward to seeing some East Midlands shooters on the podium.
