East Midlands Newsletter – July

Hello East Midlands Shooter

I know I say this every month but time seems to go quicker and it’s hard to believe that the Intercounties shoots are only a couple of months away and I hope many of you will be representing your counties in the coming months and trying to prise the Directors Team trophy out of Suffolk’s hands, if you are interested in representing your county now is the time to contact your county Secretary or Regional rep to register your interest.

I did manage to get out and shoot this month at Lakenheath CTC rather than just being there to present medals and take the photographs. They say things come in threes, well mine were, Porsche reverses into my car, got soaking wet scored 93 but other than that I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was good to see some of you at Lakenheath. A quick mention of the winner that day Robbie Manning with an impressive ton to take the Skeet title for the third time – Well done Rob!

July is going to be very busy for us in the East Midlands with no less than four East Midlands Championships and I would advise that you book in for any or all of this month’s events as soon as possible to help give the grounds an idea of what sort of attendance they can expect.

JULY FIXTURES

We kick off July with the Skeet Doubles Championship at Northampton SG on July 3rd. Last year this event was held at Oxton and won by Chris Morris and I’m sure Chris will be there and keen to hang onto his trophy. Telephone entries are preferred for this one please and you can call the ground direct at 01604-781741 or 01604-642252 in the evenings. Also check out the new NSG website which not only details all that’s on offer plus fixtures but also full results on the day of the shoot. For those of you that like to do more than 100 targets in a day there is no need to venture far as NSG also have a 100 Registered Sporting to get your teeth into.

The following weekend July 10th we head over to Cambridge Gun Club for the Sportrap Championships, this month’s featured ground in the Pull Magazine “On the Ground” article is well worth a visit after its extensive ground and clubhouse improvements and I know Mick & Karen are looking forward to welcoming you to their ground to see for yourself the commitment they are making towards shooting. This event is limited to 80 guns because of time constraints and I urge you to book on for this one now as past events at this venue have proved very popular. Please log onto the club website for future fixture details and opening times.

Again telephone entries are strongly recommended and you can call Normanton to secure your time slot on 07802285555.
