Regional All Round Championships

ED IS AN ALL ROUND LOVABLE GUY

THE ALL ROUND TROPHIES & MEDALS

51 shooters turned out to take part in the East Mids CPSA All Round Championships at Northampton shooting Ground today in a mixed bag of weather; once again the attendance of this shoot follows the trend of the whole year whereby the number of participants is well above average.

Mick Parsons shooting early on led the field until way past lunch time with a score of 90 until Northants All Rounder and defending Champion James Lacey cruised past that with a superb score of 94 .Multi talented Darren Parsons from Suffolk who has been having a great degree of success on the East Mids circuit of late did threaten to challenge James’s score but just let a couple too many beat the gun to end up on 92. Lovable Ed Solomons from Leicestershire is probably not best known for his All Round skills and is certainly more at home on a Sporting course, but he made light work of the Northampton track just letting 4 clays get passed him on the Skeet, DTL and ABT and cleared up on the Sporting to finish on 96 to take the Regional title, this meant James was pushed back into the silver medal position an yet again Darren framed to take the bronze.

In the Ladies it was a very close affair with just one clay separating the first three finishers two of which were tied for the lead on 71, Rachel Willcock from Leicestershire and Michele Conway from Camb’s had to fight it out on the drawn discipline of Sporting. Neither had shot stand 4 particularly well first time round and ironically that was the stand drawn out of the hat, Rachel shot first clearing up 5 and it was only on the last pair that Michele clinched victory to give her the title, former Champion Rose Palmer from Northants completed the placings by finishing in the bronze position with a score of 70.

In Juniors Loz Slater from Northants was the victor narrowly beating the only other competitor Isaac Crum who had travelled down from Nottinghamshire by a mere two clays.

A good field of 14 Vets competed over the spoils and it was Brian Dunbavin from Camb’s who just did enough with his score of 84 to just pip Martin Ferris from Northants to take the title by one clay. A three way tie for third between Leicestershire trio Eric Kendrick, Dave Piggin and Alan Bott resulted in a shoot off again on the Sporting layout, Dave was eliminated after the first stand and a further stand was needed to separate Eric and Alan with Alan just doing enough to take the bronze.

As always many thanks must go to Martine and all the staff at Northampton for again hosting this event.
