NATIONAL INTERCOUNTIES

Three National Inter-counties down, one to go !!  

The DTL took place at Bywell on 2 October 2011 which was a relatively calm day for Bywell, but overcast and slightly drizzly.  Quite a number from the East Midlands Region took the trouble to travel north which was pleasing to see with some of them having good results.  The Lincolnshire Ladies consisting of Alison Dupree, Jackie Houghton and Leanne Palmer romped home with a massive 588 ex 600 (both Alison and Leanne shot 294’s) and for Leanne it was her first 100 to take the Ladies title.  Leanne also took the Ladies High Gun after a shoot off with Alison who, even with her experience, dropped a full target, but Leanne held her nerve to shoot another straight – well done.  The Juniors from Nottingham won consisting of Joe Booth, Freddie Brown and Connor Bean, Joe Booth also picked up the Colt’s High Gun, Curtis Woolley was also successful taking the Junior High Gun Trophy together with the Nottingham Seniors who were runners up.  Ken Rimington had to shoot off for the Veterans title, but just couldn’t quite do it and lost out to Neil Fowler from Cumbria.   

However, the Sporting which took place at Southdown Shooting Ground on 2 October 2011 was attended (due to its location I presume) by twelve brave ‘south of the Region’ Suffolk Shooters.   This was not in vane because the Veteran team came out on top as the winners, together with John Bidwell taking the individual Veteran High Gun. 

The ABT took place at Bisley on 9 October 2011 under rather breezy but sunny conditions.  Again, the Lincolnshire Ladies consisting of Alison Dupree and Jackie Houghton made the long journey south, but made it worth their while by taking first place in the team event, together with Alison Dupree taking overall Ladies High Gun.  Lincolnshire Veterans also had a convincing win with the team consisting of David Shepherd, John Stephenson and Terry Taylor.
