National Intercounties Skeet

NATIONAL INTERCOUNTIES SKEET @ NORTHAMPTON

The National Intercounties Skeet was held at Northampton Shooting Ground last weekend (15th – 16th October) and was attended by 177 shooters from across the country.

Our county sides were in the thick of the action with Suffolk defending their Senior Team title along with many other county teams defending the regions honour.

Northants “A” came oh so close to taking the National team title finishing with a score of 488/500, Neil Faulkner and Mike Harris both recording tons, but a strong Yorkshire team tied with them and then narrowly won after a shoot off.

Northants however did gain some glory by winning the Veterans team title with a score of 190/200 narrowly beating Warwickshire by one point, the winning trio was Mick Tee and Martin Ferris with Roger Bonner top scoring on 96/100 which was good enough to win him the Vets High Gun award.

Cambridgeshire Ladies were also successful by overcoming Derbyshire Ladies to win with a team score of 192/200, Michelle Conway top scored for the Camb’s team on 98/100 and went on to take the Ladies High Gun after beating Joy Hirons in a shoot off.

Cambridgeshire Juniors were also honoured as they took the runners up berth narrowly being beaten by holders Gloucestershire, George McFarlane top scored for Camb’s on 98 and also won the Junior High Gun.
