EAST MIDLANDS APRIL NEWSLETTER
Hi East Midlands Shooter
Slightly late on parade this month, but still in good time to remind you of this month’s only event, but first of all I will give a name check to the winners over the last month.
A few shooters have dominated the opening events of the year so far, John Winn from Lincs has captured 4 titles, Jack Wilkinson (Lincs) 3, Alison Dupree (Lincs) 2 and Eric Chapman (Suffolk) 2, well done to them and also to Graham Carter (Cambs) who picked up his first regional title last week in the Double Trap, but don’t worry there is still plenty to shoot for with still over 100 medals left to be contested.
I’m sure many of you are aware of the event’s that took place at the National AGM, and I would just like to thank the hundreds of you that voted.
The National Awards dinner took place the same evening and I am pleased to say that the region was well represented, with four nominees all reaching the final round of voting and being invited to the celebration dinner. So many congratulations to Sporting Targets of Bedfordshire, Taylor Hedgecock (Cambs) and Joe Booth (Notts) for all being runners up.
We did though as a region run off with the award for project of the year; the season ticket scheme dreamt up over a year ago has proved highly successful and has increased attendances at regional events, the income received with paid levies has shown a superb return to record our 5th best year in our 40 year history. Not only that but much needed income has filtered back to the hosting grounds which is more than welcome in these financially dark days. To thank and reward the grounds that had the vision to support this untested pilot scheme we would like to say a huge thank you, in the coming months we will be presenting a framed replica certificate that we were awarded to all those grounds.
Not only did we receive a trophy and certificate but also a cheque for £300 and the regional committee will decide what to with this at our next monthly meeting.
APRIL DIARY
We only have one event this month but it is one of the biggest on our calendar. This coming Sunday (April 8th) Normanton Shooting Ground in Leicestershire will be hosting the East Midlands CPSA Regional Sporting Championships.
For those of you that have never given Normanton a visit, this maybe an ideal opportunity to cross off this picturesque ground of places to visit. In a lakeside setting in rural Leicestershire Normanton Shooting Ground can be found on the Normanton Park estate.
The ground can be found by taking the turning opposite the Elephant & Castle Public House in the Village of Thurlaston, the entrance can be found about ½ a mile along Church Street.
