MAKE JOHN’S A DOUBLE – EPISODE 6

Once again the great and the good of trap shooters from the region made their way to a sunny Nottingham Gun Club to take part in the Regional Single Barrel Championships.

It’s now that deja vu kicks in, and I feel like I have written this before, and you think you have read it before, well you have, but guess what, John Winn has done it again in true Trapmaster style by scoring the perfect score 100 ex 100, this is also his third double title of the season.

In the five years or so that I have been running this website, this is the sixth time I have recorded that John Winn has captured not only the Vets trophy but the High Gun one as well.  Russ Hufton from Notts scored 98/100 which would have been good enough to win many a competition but he had to settle with the silver medal. Alan Palmer from Leicestershire chased Russ home to take the bronze medal with 96/100, and that score was also good enough to earn him the silver medal in Vets.

Third place in Vets was decided by a shoot off with Mike Brookes and Ken Rimington who were both on the last squad of the day locked together on 92, Mike getting the better of Ken scoring 24 kills to Ken’s 21.

In Ladies surprisingly it was just Hazel Whiten making the long journey from Cambridgeshire as the only entrant, her uncontested score giving her the Ladies title. It was almost a similar story in juniors with just Joe Booth and George Lewis from Nottinghamshire battling for the title, they both ended the day on 80 but sadly George had left the ground when the shoot off was called leaving Joe as junior Champion.

As always we have to thank Team Nottingham for running a tidy ship and their continued support of the region.
