Regional Handicap by Distance Championships
Love Lee Jubbly!!
Notts regular Lee Clements prevailed in this derivative of DTL, known as Handicap by Distance. Once again held at Nottingham, the day attracted 27 hopefuls who were subjected to everything the weather could muster up, from heavy showers to bright sunshine with a cold snap in the breeze.
I don’t know and awful lot about this discipline, but basically the better DTL shooter you are in terms of classification the further back you have to stand from the trap house. So if you are a AA class shooter you really have your work cut out to keep up with even the most novice trap shooter. Angles become more extreme, not to mention the extra distance to cope with, so all in all it becomes a great leveller and just about anyone can prevail no matter what the class and become Champion.
Lee shooting from A Class got off to a solid start with a 24/70, swiftly followed by an even better 25/74. A 22/63 gave some ray of hope for fellow competitors, but a 24/70 slammed the door closed and a title winning 95/277 was recorded.
The Ladies Gold medal went to Leicestershire’s Sarah Tyers with a 91/265, it was Sarah’s first Ladies regional title and she also claimed second in the overall shoot.
In Veterans Trevor Hunt from Lincolnshire took the honours with a score of 90/268 and in Juniors local lad Joe Booth took the gold with an 87/245.
Many thanks to the team at Nottingham for hosting this most specialist of disciplines.
