East Midlands CPSA Newsletter July 2012

Hello East Mids Shooter

June was a busy month for the region, and I’m pleased to say there were plenty of new faces picking up medals and trophies, as well as a few of the more regular winners.

Barry Dunmore won the DTL, and it was good to see Sarah Tyers and George Lewis winning their first medals. Mike Harris and Henry Collins both from Northants won their first ever regional titles in the Skeet, as did Joy Hirons from Leicestershire. In the Sportrap Andy Jude from Suffolk won his first ever Regional title and Sue Field won her first medal. Finally in the Handicap by Distance at Nottingham it was Lee Clements who was the victor, Sarah Tyers now getting a taste for winning took the Ladies and Trevor Hunt won the Veterans.

I cannot mention everyone that won a medal but many congratulations to you all, thanks also to the many of you that continue to support us and regularly attend our Championship shoots.

Whilst talking about the region did you know?

We are the only region that holds Championships for every single discipline.

We are the only region that sends out a monthly newsletter.

We are the only region that has a Supreme Championship.

We are the only region that has Intercounties shoots for all five main disciplines.

We are the only region that allows full teams in Intercounties shoots, not just one Lady, Colt, Junior or Veteran.

We are the only region that has a Directors Trophy to recognise the top achieving County.

We are the only region that provides results, reports and photos on its website for every Championship shoot within hours of the shoot taking place.

We have much to be proud of in our region, and we will continue to give you the shooters the best service we can with our dedicated team of regional reps.

Before we get onto the July fixtures I would just like to congratulate the shooters that represented the Region at the DTL weekend, we claimed two out of the four team titles and so nearly made it three.

Finally we must congratulate our first ever winners of our Supreme Championship which was kindly sponsored by Carl Smith at Nottingham & District GC. Chris Morris was the overall Champion; Russ Hufton won the Seniors, Jackie Houghton the Ladies, Ken Rimington Veterans and Joe Booth the Juniors.

July Fixtures

We kick July off as early as this Sunday (July1st) with the UT at Rugby & District and also the England Sporting Selection Shoot at Grimsthorpe. Last year we had a superb entry at Rugby with 57 UT shooters battling it out; Peter Boden won two titles that day and will be keen to hang onto them.

The shoot at Grimsthorpe is the 5th England Selection shoot and there are sure to be many looking for that all important score to secure an England team place, good luck to any of you that are still trying to qualify. Grimsthorpe will feature in many shooters top three sporting venues for quality of target and the wonderful setting.

The following Sunday (July 8th) we have another double header with the Skeet Doubles at Northampton and the Double Rise at Nottingham. Darren Parsons and Marvin Houghton were the respective Champions last year and will be there for sure trying to hang onto their titles.

To book on for any of these shoots please contact the grounds direct.
