ENGLISH OPEN ABT
REGIONAL ABT SHOOTERS DO US PROUD
The East Midlands Region fielded just two teams at the English Open ABT at Southern Counties Shooting Ground on 7th & 8th July 2012. Unfortunately we could not field many teams (out of 89 entries), just a full team of Ladies (Alison Dupree, Sue Bate and Belinda York) and a full team of Veterans (John Winn, Tony Clayton and Bob Richardson).
Sadly we fell short of the required team members for senior and junior teams so were unable to mount our usual challenge for team honours.
The ladies won the team title with a score of 316/400 but disappointingly the veterans lost by a couple of clays to South East Veterans. Alison Dupree won Ladies High Gun though with a score of 168/200 some ten points clear of her nearest rival, and in her words; “finally”!!!!
John Winn took the Veteran title and first in A Class with a score of 180 after a shoot off, and Jack Wilkinson completed a trio of solo success by winning the junior title with a score of 171/200.
The weather on Saturday was absolute rubbish (Not my words) – it rained in your face at the 2 O’clock position non-stop, everyone was soaked and to add insult to injury it was extremely windy. On the second day it was sunny but still extremely windy; however some of the cream shone through from the East Midlands.
