REGION’S SKEETERS TAKE TWO TITLES

Last weekend the great and good of skeet shooting met at Nottingham & District to do battle in the British Open Skeet Championship.

The usual individual titles were all up for grabs along with the Inter Regional Team titles, and we sent along full teams to fight for the pride of the region under the management of our Skeet Team Manager Allan Wright who is the Chairman of Cambridgeshire CPSA.

Although we never had any individual title winners we can report some very near misses, Isaac Crum took the bronze medal in Colts as did Pete Bloomfield in Veterans. In Ladies Joy Hirons led to virtually the last minute until Sarah Quinn dashed her hopes and Joy had to settle for silver. Joy though did have the consolation of leading the East Midlands Ladies to victory along with Sarah Bowker and Jess Simpson.

Pete Bloomfield was also consoled with a team victory in the Veterans, along with Colin Fordham and john Miller.

Our Juniors suffered the heart ache of a tied score with the West Midlands, sadly our Juniors had shot earlier over the weekend and were not available for a shoot off but they can hold their heads high.

Our ten man Senior team suffered a six clay defeat to a very impressive North Region team who only dropped five clays over the whole shoot.

As always we would like to thank everyone that competed over the weekend for the region, and we would also like to say a massive well done to Carl and his team at Nottingham who won a load of new friends with a hugely impressive well run shoot.
