February Newsletter

Dear East Mids Member

I would like to wish you all a belated Happy New Year, I trust you have wintered well and are keen to get back onto the Championship trail again, and I look forward to seeing many of you again soon.

First of all can I give you all a small reminder that the Annual General Meeting of the East Midlands Region will be held on Monday 25th of February. The venue will be the Bell Inn at Stilton PE7 3RA, and things get underway at 7-30pm. If you manage to get there a bit earlier I can thoroughly recommend the food at the Bell in a very cosy atmosphere. I hope as many of you as possible can attend, and not forgetting it is the perfect forum to ask questions and get your views heard.

One of the events of the evening will be the draw for the Season Ticket competition which is worth around £800 to the winner in free shooting. This year rather than everyone going through the process of sending their entry email, we have decided to enter all those that have entered in previous years so saving you the hassle. Please remember that condition of entry into the competition means that you agree to receive monthly updates on fixtures etc. until the end of the season. If you wish to no longer receive monthly newsletters you will also be withdrawn from the competition.

I think it is appropriate to say that without the co-operation of the hosting grounds of the region we would not be able to offer such a unique prize being the only region to do this, so on behalf of the region I would like to give my thanks to all those clubs involved.

Another unique competition to the region is the Supreme Regional Championships, and at the forthcoming AGM we will be presenting the awards sponsored by Carl Smith from Nottingham & DGC.

Full details of how the Supreme Championship works and what disciplines it applies to can be found on the East Mids website by following the link below, and the best news is, it’s free to enter and you will be automatically entered when you book on for one of the events.

Finally I have listed below the regional championship fixtures for 2013, and I’m happy to say that once again we are the only region to hold a championship for every single discipline.

I will be back at the start of March to give you a more comprehensive look at the fixtures.

One thing I do wish to highlight at the moment is we have a clash with Cambs CPSA on March 9/10th, unfortunately by the time we realised the problem it was too late to change because of publishing deadlines in shooting magazines. The clash involves the Cambs FITASC at Barrow Heath and the East Mids FITASC at Kegworth, we of course hope that as both events are being run over two days you will have the time and funds to do both, but in the very least I hope that Cambs shooters support their own event especially as Barrow Heath are keen to once again get involved in hosting championship shoots.
